Napping—Release, Reset, Refresh
My heart was pounding to the beat of a Metallica song. My mind was going round and round and round with thoughts jumping from one scenario to another. Meditation would just not do it this time. My spirit needed relief.
During times of internal struggle, when I’m searching for an answer, napping has let me release and remember lessons learned in previous moments, helping me make decisions as I wake from a short slumber.
When feeling down, overwhelmed, and meditating just won't do it, I take a nap with the intention of waking up inspired and re-energized. Napping is like pressing the reset button to an otherwise gloomy day.
More than being a way to rest my body after a long day’s work, I crave the warmth and coziness of my bed during the afternoon hours, letting the sunshine stream in from the bedroom window. A refreshing meditative state in its own way.
Napping is one of my favorite activities (or, is it a none-activity?). During moments of tension and frustration I yearn for the quietness between the soft covers, letting my mind reset after a moment of nothingness. What is your favorite way of quieting your mind when meditation just won’t work? Please, share with me in the comments below.
With much love and gratitude,
