Life is NOW—Intentional Living in the Present Moment
The clock ticked midnight and the dread of ending another year without accomplishing my goals started to creep in. List after list of things I needed to do so I could live the life of joy I dreamed of were flashing through my mind.
But not this year! This is the year I will do something different.
All my life I lived for the future, making plans for when I was older. Waiting ‘til I was 30 so I could REALLY live the life I thought I needed to live. Well, my 30’s came and, yes, something inside of me changed, but looking back on these 9 years since, I realize I needed a bigger push to start living the life I was meant to live.
This last year I began to pare things down, slowly getting rid of said lists of should-do’s and actually beginning to live the lessons I’d learned. It’s not that I don’t have dreams or goals to work on, on the contrary, it’s because I have so many dreams to make a reality that I’ve decided to live for the NOW.
The journey I've been on these last 4 years has been precisely about this: about connecting with that truth in order to be fully present and joyful without the need to accomplish 'x' to have said joy.
Yes, there are and will always be be moments of sorrow and confusion—of course, it's part of life. It's not about figuring out how to live without them in order to be happy. It's about realizing that THIS is it. This present moment is our only life, and once we understand it, we'll be content in the knowing how to grow and continue being joyful even through those dark moments.
This year for me is the year of IMPLEMENTATION. The year I take every step that presents itself to me so I may move forward with intention and momentum. So that in every NOW I live the life I dream of. It’s time to take the reins of those desires that have lived in our hearts and begin to make them a reality!
Looking forward to writing and blogging more this 2019. To setting a clear intention of desires for the year and sharing more of how I’ve come to be where I am today: living in my present joy.
But first, tell me, what is one thing you can do differently to live the life of your dreams now? Please share with me in the comments below.
With much love and gratitude,
