Earning a Living or Yearning for Fulfillment
Over a year ago, I took a major step towards, what I considered then, my freedom. But freedom from what, you may ask. Well, for a long time, I too asked myself this question.
I thought it was freedom of time: to make decisions for the type of projects I wanted to work on and spend my precious time on. I yearned for the days where I would be able to wake up as late as I wanted, roll out of bed, and with laptop in hand, head to my favorite coffee shop to sit and work. Autonomy.
Well, those days came and yet they only helped me understand that that in itself was not the main reason why I wanted to leave a full-time job working for someone else. I realized that more than wanting to start my OWN business, I wanted to live a more fulfilled life, not just work, whether for someone else or for myself, to earn a living, but for a purpose, in service of others — which I'm still discovering.
That feeling of wanting to burst out running from the monotony of a 9-5 was only the initial stirring inside which pointed me in a direction to follow—the NEXT RIGHT STEP. It was all I knew then, but with exploration and growth, I came to understand that the path to follow appears and all I have to do is trust that it will lead me to my desired life.
As I just heard Brandon Stanton say, “…following your dreams correctly is nothing but hard work.”—and THIS I’ve discovered to be the truest truth on this path to fulfillment!
With much love and gratitude,
